Dr. Akihiko Yoshida is an attending surgical pathologist and the Chief of Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology service at the National Cancer Center Hospital, Tokyo, Japan. He graduated from the University of Tokyo in 2002, and trained as an Anatomic Pathology resident at the University of Tokyo Hospital and St.Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital/Beth Israel Medical Center in New York (USA). He completed Oncologic Pathology fellowship at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York in 2008, and obtained PhD degree from the University of Tokyo in 2012.


Dr. Yoshida’s research in sarcoma field focuses on clinicopathological characterization of rare tumor entities/subtypes and development of new diagnostic biomarkers. Dr. Yoshida received the Young Investigator Award from the Japanese Society of Pathology (2012) and the Young Researcher Award from the Japanese Division of International Academy of Pathology (2013). He is the author of over 120 peer-reviewed papers.

Dr. Khin Thway is a Consultant Histopathologist to the Sarcoma Unit, the Paediatrics Unit and the Head and Neck Unit at The Royal Marsden. She qualified in medicine from the University of London, and undertook her general histopathology training at University College London Hospitals and The Royal Marsden, with subsequent fellowship training in the surgical pathology of soft-tissue tumours under Professor Cyril Fisher at The Royal Marsden.

Dr. Thway’s research interests are in all types of adult and paediatric soft-tissue tumours, and include clinicopathologic correlations, the application of novel diagnostic immunohistochemical markers and the molecular mechanisms underlying the development of these rare tumours. In addition to her diagnostic practice, she is the Sarcoma Pathologist for the Sarcoma Molecular Pathology Team at the Institute of Cancer Research, led by Dr. Janet Shipley.

Dr. Thway publishes widely in the field of soft tissue sarcoma, and in the last five years has authored or co-authored over 100 scientific articles, including more than 60 peer-reviewed publications and over 30 book chapters on benign and malignant soft-tissue lesions. She is also co-author of two textbooks on diagnostic surgical pathology of soft-tissue tumours.

Dr. Roger Ngan is currently Chief of Service and consultant in the Department of Clinical Oncology of Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Hong Kong, and the Director of the Hong Kong Cancer Registry.

 

Dr. Ngan is Clinical Oncology specialist practicing in Hong Kong who has special interests in the multimodality management and clinical research of soft tissue sarcomas, head and neck cancers & breast cancers. He is the clinical supervisor of the Cancer Research Laboratory at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

 

Dr. Ngan is currently also serving as Honorary Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Oncology of the University of Hong Kong, Adjunct Professor in the Department of Health Technology and Informatics of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Deputy Chief Editor of the Hong Kong Journal of Radiology, a member of the Executive Management Council of the Hong Kong Center for NPC Research, and a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the State Key Laboratory in Oncology in South China at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is also a UICC TNM International Expert Head & Neck Panel member and the President-elect of the Hong Kong Breast Oncology Group

Dr. Gracieux Yuzon Fernando has been practicing and teaching Medical Oncology for the past 20 years. He obtained his degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1987 from the University of the East – Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center. He then went on to complete his Residency Training in Internal Medicine at the University of the Philippines – Philippine General Hospital in 1992. He continued his fellowship training in the same institution, graduating as a Clinical Fellow in Medical Oncology in 1994. He subsequently applied and completed a Masters Degree in Medical Education at the National Teachers’ Training Center for Health Professionals – University of the Philippines, Manila, graduating in 2004. He is currently an Associate Professor Step V of the Section of Medical Oncology, Department of Medicine, University of the East – Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, an Associate Professor Step IV of the Section of Medical Oncology, Department of Medicine, University of the Philippines – Philippine General Hospital, and an Active Consultant III of the Department of Medicine, Manila Doctors Hospital. He is also a member of the Medical Education Unit of both institutions. He also has served as a guest lecturer in Medical Oncology on several occasions at the Manila Doctors Hospital and the Ateneo de Manila University School of Medicine. He also serves as a member of the faculty of the UERMMMC Graduate School, where he teaches subjects in Instructional Media and Microteaching for the Masters course in Health
Science Education.

Dr. Fernando is a Diplomate and Fellow of the Philippine College of Physicians, a Diplomate and Fellow of the Philippine Society of Medical Oncology and a Fellow of the Philippine Society of Oncologists. He is also a council member of the Asian Clinical Oncology Society and a member of the Asian Sarcoma Consortium. He has served as Chair of the Philippine Specialty Board of Medical Oncology and was a Past President of the Philippine Society of Medical Oncology. He is also a member of the board of advisers for the Andres Soriano Cancer Research Foundation.

Dr. Tom W. Chen is currently an attending physician at the Department of Oncology, National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) in Taipei, Taiwan. Dr. Chen received internal medicine training followed by a fellowship course as a medical oncologist in NTUH. Afterwards, he joined Drug Development Program (DDP) in Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Canada as a clinical fellow to study early phase clinical trials with Dr. Lillian Siu and Dr. Phil Bedard. During his stay in Princess Margaret, he gained more experience with next-generation sequencing and precision medicine, as well as interest in sarcoma patients.

 

After returning to NTUH, he faciliated in the establishement of sarcoma multi-disciplinary team. He is actively involved in many sarcomca clinical trials including the global phase III study of doxorubucin +/- olaratumab in advanced soft tissue sarcoma and is also the institution PI of the single arm phase II study of tazemetostat (an EZH2 inhibtor) for synovical sarcoma, epithelioid sarcoma, and INI-1 negative cancers.

Biography
Dr. Jyoti Bajpai is a medical oncologist and at present posted as the Professor of Medical Oncology, at Tata Memorial Hospital in India.  She received her MBBS and MD in general Medicine from NSCB Medical College, Jabalpur and DM in medical oncology from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), India. She did observership in “Sarcomas” from Johns Hopkins Cancer Center, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Following her Medical Oncology training, Dr. Bajpai joined Tata Memorial hospital in Mumbai in Medical Oncology department in 2009 and at presently working as professor

Awards
She received the best poster award in International Society of Paediatric Oncology Congress (SIOP), Toronto in 2014, and her project ranked highest in Australia and Asia Pacific Clinical Oncology Research Development (ACORD) Workshop. 
Research Interest
Dr. Bajpai is an outstanding researcher and has special interests in bone and soft tissue sarcomas, melanomas, breast cancer and gynecological malignancies with 60 publications to her credit. 
Dr. Bajpai’s areas of research include conception and development of low cost, effective and easy to administer protocols which are widely  applicable world wide (including in lower and middle income countries). Her novel, Non-HDMTX based, economic protocol “OGS-12”in osteosarcoma has shown comparative outcome to international  standards. 
In the breast cancer, she has keen interest in young breast cancers and is started a registry study for pregnancy associated breast cancer. His other areas of interest is novel therapies, drug repositioning and immunotherapies.
